About Workplace Ninjas Canada

Workplace Ninja User Group Canada

Workplace Ninjas Canada is affiliated with the Global Workplace Ninjas Community. We aim to share knowledge with the community and simplify Workplace Management with Microsoft technologies — for everybody.

Our events are free, independently organized, in-person community days: Microsoft MVPs, local speakers and industry experts sharing their insights and adventures in the Modern Workplace Management space. We cover Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, Microsoft Security, Defender, Sentinel, Microsoft Entra, PowerShell, Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365 and much more.

Our team — meet the people who make it happen

9-time Microsoft MVP · Community Master

David is the founder and Community Master of Workplace Ninjas Canada, a 9-time Microsoft MVP, Director at Steeves and Associates, and president of VanTUG, the Vancouver Technology User Group. He also runs TheAvidAI.com. David has been speaking on Microsoft endpoint management since presenting "Intune for the Enterprise" at Microsoft TechEd 2012 — and at our own events he has opened every community day, from his vision for the future of Intune in Vancouver 2024 to the Windows 11 transition and treating identity as your primary security boundary in Toronto and Calgary 2025.

Ali Alame

CTO & Co-Founder, CyberArmor · Intune Expert

Ali is the CTO and Co-Founder of CyberArmor, driving the development of DarkArmor, its pre-breach intelligence platform — advancing Canadian cybersecurity through proactive threat detection, automation, and intelligence that stops breaches before they begin. He is also one of Canada's top Intune experts: his session "Rebuilding IT Foundations: Real-World Stories of Migration, Modernization, and MDM Success" toured all three of our 2025 events, and was one of the most engaging talks of the year in attendee feedback.

Alongside our local partners — VanTUG in Vancouver and the Calgary IT Pro Community Association — and the many volunteers who make each event run.

The global community

The Workplace Ninjas Community is a global network of user groups for Microsoft endpoint management and security professionals, with local chapters in more than twenty countries. It is anchored by the annual Workplace Ninja Summit in Switzerland — one of the biggest community-driven workplace IT conferences in Europe — whose goal is to bring the crowd of endpoint management and security ninjas together to share their knowledge and learn together, in a friendly, inclusive, cooperative atmosphere, on an equal level with the audience. That's the spirit we bring to our Canadian events.
