What Nerdio is
Nerdio builds management and automation software
for the Microsoft cloud desktop stack — Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Windows 365 Cloud
PC, and Microsoft Intune. It doesn't replace the native Microsoft tooling; it wraps a
single, far more automated console around it. The software deploys into
your own Azure subscription, so your data never leaves your tenant or your
chosen Azure region — a detail your compliance team will appreciate.
There are two products: Nerdio Manager for Enterprise, for internal
IT teams, and Nerdio Manager for MSP, a multi-tenant version for
managed service providers. More on the MSP side below.
The benefit for your company
The business case rests on two numbers: what you spend on Azure, and what you spend
on people's time.
- Azure cost reduction. Nerdio's auto-scale engine powers session
hosts on and off based on schedules, CPU, RAM or active sessions, and even swaps OS
disks to cheaper storage tiers while VMs are off. Nerdio markets savings of up to 75%
on compute and storage, with ~55% as a typical auto-scaling result. Treat vendor
numbers as vendor numbers — but this is exactly what a proof of concept lets you
measure against your own baseline.

babysitting host pools and image updates.

workspaces or host pools, with a full audit trail of every action.
- Backup and DR — Azure Backup integration, image geo-replication,
and active/active host pools spread across two Azure regions.
- AI assistance — Nerdio Manager Copilot generates scripts and
queries and helps troubleshoot, with AI-powered insights added for Windows 365
management.
The MSP perspective
For managed service providers, Nerdio Manager for MSP turns the same machinery into a
business model. One multi-tenant portal manages hundreds of customer tenants — virtual
desktops, physical endpoints and the wider Microsoft 365 estate — with per-tenant
isolation, so each customer keeps control of their own data, networking and identity.
- Margin comes from automation. Auto-scaling your customers' Azure
consumption is the difference between a profitable managed AVD offering and a
break-even one, and reduced engineering hours compound across every tenant.
- Standardization at scale. Global images and wizard-driven
deployments mean junior technicians can safely run day-to-day operations that used to
need an Azure engineer.
- Productized offerings. MSPs package managed AVD, Windows 365 and
"Modern Work" (M365/Intune) services, with white-label reporting for client-facing
deliverables and PSA integrations (Autotask, ConnectWise, Halo) to fit existing
workflows.
- Partner-friendly economics. Licensing is billed to the MSP
per-user or per-tenant, with volume discounts and free internal-use licenses to run
the product in your own shop first.
Why you should run a proof of concept
Every environment is different, and every claim above deserves to be tested against
your workloads. The good news: a Nerdio PoC is cheap and fast. It installs from

A well-run PoC looks like this:
- Record your baseline first — current Azure spend and the admin hours your team
puts into AVD, Windows 365 or Intune today.
- Deploy a pilot host pool with a small, real user group.
- Turn on auto-scaling and measure the Azure bill against the baseline.
- Exercise the image update workflow and app deployment with your own apps.
- Delegate a scoped role to a junior admin and see how much they can safely run.
- Finish with numbers: projected annual Azure savings, projected hours saved, and a
clear go/no-go.
If the numbers hold in your tenant the way Nerdio claims they do on average, the
licensing typically pays for itself out of the Azure savings alone — and if they don't,
you've spent thirty days and a handful of hours finding out for certain. Either way,
